Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

I’ve got lots of stuff in the works for 2012! I’m currently working on putting together a new full length album. I have a name and some artwork that I will not reveal because they will most likely change thirty or forty times before I settle on something.  The album might feature  a handful of  material from the past two years (Mechanical Bullfighter, Lava in the Living Room and Full Scale Assault), along with a bunch of new tunes! I’m aiming for 10-15 tracks. If there are any older songs that you would like to have rerecorded, feel free to leave a comment!

Also, I am re releasing my back catalog with new/clearer artwork. I’m not trying to make any extra money, I just lost all of the original files and it bothers me that I only have low res    scans.

Also got this for Xmas from my wife and parents!

Fuck yeah!! Happy New Year!

Anyone who listens to Screeching Weasel knows what drama Ben Weasel can cause. After he posted this huge fucking post, I replied with this:

I’ll never stop listening to SW or the Riverdales but this is ridiculous. Why can’t you just be happy for being able to make a living from playing music? Why do you have to put on a show and cause drama with every person you work with? I do not think you’re a womanizer or anything, I understand you just made a mistake, but you seem to handle things in a shitty way. Good for you for already putting together a new band, I’m already waiting to see what these new guys are gonna do to get fired.

Then Ben replied:

“Why can’t you just be happy for being able to make a living from playing music?”

Because I have a lot to give, whether it’s to the Great Ape Rescue here in Wisconsin, the Meals on Wheels program I started for sex offenders on house arrest, or my newest venture, “Wigs for Pigs,” which I’ll be unveiling this Halloween.

So why can’t I just be happy earning a living by playing music? You might as well ask why Martin Luther King, Jr. couldn’t just be happy preaching without running around causing all that drama about civil rights. Hey, why couldn’t FDR be happy just being President without sending troops over to Germany to kick the shit out of the Nazis? Why couldn’t the Wright Brothers just be happy walking instead of “putting on a show” by inventing flying machines?

Because we are all great men who are called to more then just a job, that’s why. We feel a responsibility to mankind. So sorry to have offended you by trying to make a difference in the world.

I understand his sense of humor but stop putting on a show and be happy that you can make money off of music.

The Glenn Robinsons – The Most Expensive Song In The World

God Dammit. My idea failed. I do not have the most expensive song in the world, just a song called “The Most Expensive Song in the World”.  I guess online music stores can’t have a song that’s worth $67,000. It is available on iTunes and Amazon for $0.99.  But, I’d rather share this song with you for free.

Listen!

How much would you pay for a song?

This may not work, but it’s worth a shot!

So, how much do you think someone would pay for a song?  Personally, I have no idea! Though, the question does give me an excuse to try something fun and new.

First, let me explain this with a back story, so hopefully it will make some sense.   I signed up for a website that will distribute your music for free on iTunes, Spotify, Rhapsody, etc (You know the sites.). Within minutes I posted my “Lava in the Living Room” album.  In a few days, my music was released on about 15 different sites , retailed at $5.93. Sweet! It’s legit! While submitting another album,  “Full Scale Assualt”, I noticed that they only allow you one free UPC code.  Now I could either pay a small fee for a new code, or find some kind of loophole.

I decided to grab the first thing I saw with a UPC code on it, entered the number and waited.  Hot shit! The code worked! I used a box of Emergen-C that sold for $9.99. A few days later I checked iTunes and sure enough “Full Scale Assualt” was for sale for $9.99 (over priced for that CD).  I have no idea if this is legal or not. I’m assuming it’s OK because I’m not making any money, I just want to see my shitty albums on iTunes. Nobody will buy them, it just looks legit.

Since I don’t have any quality songs worth recording at the moment, I figure I may as well write “The Most Expensive Song in the World”. That’s right! I found a UPC code worth a SHITLOAD of money (I won’t say how much yet.).  Since this may not work I have a few back up plans. If stores have a limit on how much an MP3 can be, I’ll add another track and sell it as a 2 song EP. If that doesn’t go under the radar, then I will simply post the song(s) for free as usual.  Either way it’ll be fun!

The song is about 40% recorded. I’ll submit it ASAP!

I know this is not the official flyer. I just thought the idea was funny. We are playing Friday at The Barn on the URI campus.  On Saturday, my long time friend Chris Ottaviano from Hardig Rhode will be filling in for me at the News Cafe in Pawtucket. Friday’s show will be recorded and depending on the quality, it’ll be available for download. Both shows will have The Jesse Minute covering Aersomith too! Fucking go!
